Is it fair to judge pitchers by their win-loss record? To be frank, most pitchers with 20 wins are better than those with zero wins. But how to judge a pitcher from an all-mighty team (hint hint ... Yankees) with a 10-5 record with a pitcher from a very weak team (hint hint ... Nationals) who has a 7-7 record. A lot of times, pitchers may lose their own decision or earn a no-decision due to factors beyond their control.

well wins r a bit overrated. 2 win pitchers need run support. no run support then no wins.

I agree with Ezio. It all depends on a couple of things, mostly run support.

Yea, but Cain was really good last year too, but had like a 5-15 record cause he got no run support. I mean if you get 7 runs every time you start then anyone can win 20 games.

Wins are a big part of what scouts and people who manage trading for the MLB look at for pitchers, though. They are overrated anyway, since people should start looking at the teams that the pitchers played on.
Wins are kind of like saves, actually, since saves can be a skewed statistic.

Scouts wouldnt b hired if they only look at wins. they should b looking 4 how well the prospects can throw a pitch, like locating it well. also they should not look at the teams they played 4. just because they played with one team, doesnt mean tht they arent just as good as another picther of another team

This reminds me of Randy Johnson who lost some of his intimidation stuff when he joined the Yankees.
