The game that everyone loves -- or hates -- RUNESCAPE!
Runescape is one of the internet's oldest persistent-world role-playing games, stemming from Runescape Classic and evolving into the current high-definition version. What makes this game unique as compared to others is that it is a web-browser game based on a Java program that is FREE! Well, not entirely. This game has a members-only feature which is pretty neat from what I've heard. Members get access to tons of extra goodies, whether it's bank space, items, weapons, skills, you name it! However, as a free-player (commonly abbreviated as "f2p"), you still have access to many of the abilities members do, including the long-coveted level 99 in any skill.
I used to play runescape all the time a few years ago. In case you're wondering, I have 2 accounts -- Dmoc4 and Dmoc5. Dmoc4 is a level 4 account that I hardly ever used, but Dmoc5 was a level 52 account who was a "skiller" -- someone who specializes not in combat, but in other skills, such as woodcutting, firemaking, fishing, and mining. In my Dmoc5 account, which is free-to-play (and wasn't a member -- I never paid), my best level is Mining, which is currently 74. My second best is Woodcutting, at level 70, and the third is probably Firemaking. I've long forgotten most of my stats from lack of playing. I could always go and check -- but that would be cumbersome and a waste of time.
I quit this game a long time ago because it just seemed so repetitive. Anyone familiar with the game is aware of the incessant clicking going on. That is one of the huge flaws in the game. The other major flaw, of course, is the community on free-worlds. In short -- it's garbage. You can't go around without someone calling you "n00b" and acting like a four-year-old. Maybe, just maybe, one out of fifty playres on a free world has a sense of maturity like me. Maybe.
Anyway, I'm done with this post. Anyone have other comments on the game of Runescape (taking care, of course, not to yell out such random insults such as "I HAAAAATEEEE JAGEXXXXXXXXX!")? Remember that they have recently upgraded to a High-Definition version, so the graphics (which was another major flaw in its early days) are MUCH improved.
