What are some of the best movies that have been based on books? I would suggest the Lord of the Rings movie series (and books as well, because both are fantastic). Other than that, I don't know how many movies based on books have really stuck to my memory. Which probably means the movie producers didn't do a good job.

well, the Seeker Series is a TV series based on a book series(Sword of Truth), other than the flawed casting, I think it's alright. Love the books though.

plus you got lord of the rings series to don't want to miss that I kind of mentioned that in my original post. The Harry Potter movie series were also pretty good. I like how they manage to get all the special effects stuff necessary to imitate "magic." Oh yeah, and dementors too!

Do you guys know The Ring?
It was originally a book from Japan, which was made into a movie in Japan, which was remade by the USA.
Though it is a little scary, I like the movie.

No, I'm afraid I don't. The closest thing I do know is the Lord of the Rings (this is the third time I've said this lol).

I thought the ring was a joke. I don't think I've ever actually seen a movie that scared me though. Surprised, yeah, but never scared.

Yeah, I've read and watched them. The movie wasn't bad, although it seemed a bit weird to have the children survive in a war. But then again, it happened in the book.

Oh yeah, Prince Caspian had more of the "war" theme, I guess.

Star Dust. It's one of my favorite movies, but it is originally a book by Neil Gaiman.

The Harry Potters didn't quite appeal to me, it just seemed so different and out of character from the book. I enjoy the fountainhead, the book The Fountainhead was written by Ayn Rand, and the movie was different, but the characters were rather in character. Someone mentioned Terry Goodkind or rather his book series The Sord Of truth, here, and Goodkind was heavily influenced by Ayn.

Probably me, I'm a big Goodkind fan. The TV series turned out to completely screw up the story(Time travel was thrown in just for kicks)
