That is true. But still more runs is better than less runs.

Yeah I would have to agree.
So far I have to say Sox are the better team. But it's still only June. Means more than 3 months of baseball to go.
In 3 months it's quite possible that the Yankees lose 80 games or go on a 30-game losing streak while the Sox go on a 40-game winning streak and win more than 70 games. It could go the other way around. So that's why I'm more of a September and October person when it comes down to baseball.

Injuries? Slumps? A burst of luck?

Yeah Yankees have had a couple of key injuries to their BP and a lot of their young players are getting hurt. Also they've been in a couple of slumps.
Right now it looks like they're getting hot again!

Yeah if you allow just 1 run a game but your team isn't scoring, then you can't win!
Sox have the edge so far mainly because of their lights-out BP. Yankees' BP are starting to get it all together though, with Bruney back, Hughes being lights-out, and Tomko is being more consistent. Throw in a consistent Coke and a solid Robertson and you've got yourself a BP good enough to carry you deep into October.

Tomko sucks

He's been better lately. Robertson has an ERA of 2.60 right now. Bruney just came back a couple of weeks ago and his ERA's 3.00. Mo's ERA is 3.20 I think or something like that. Coke's ERA is somewhere around the 3.50 mark. Hughes has an ERA of 1.86 as a reliever. Those are encouraging stats.

The Red Sox lost and the Yankees won today. The race is really close, and it's hard to pinpoint which team is better until they face off in the playoffs. (And both teams should make it to the playoffs anyway unless the Rays get a 20 game winning streak.)

Yeah the Yankees are lighting up scoreboards as of late. To me, they're the hottest team right now since May/June.
AJ is owning in his last 5 or 6 starts. This is really good since he was inconsistent in April. CC is solid all year long. Pettitte is doing better than I envisioned. Joba... well you know how much I hate seeing him as a starter.
I wonder who's gonna replace Wang in the rotation now that he's on the DL for the 2nd time this year.

Girardi said there's a high chance that Hughes will stay in the BP.
