Hey y'all. What languages, if any, do you guys know/use to program? I used to know HTML back in my internet golden days(READ: middle school), but I just can't seem to remember it now. I';m currently enrolled in an advanced placement course for javascript, I know scheme(the most useless language ever) And I'm trying to learn C++. Eventually, once I get the resources, I want to start practicing in PYTHON and PERL.

I also used to know HTML a while ago but I'm afraid I've forgotten everything. I'm taking computer programming next year but I think you learn scheme in that class.

I just checked with my high school guidance counseler and found out that I am signed up to take Computer Programming 2 after all, so I am taking both 1 and 2. I assume Java will be useful. What is the point of SCHEME anyway? And did you take Computer Programming 1,2, and AP?

yeah, I've taken 1 and 2, and am currently taking AP(which is a full year)
Java is useful, scheme is basically there for the sole purpose of getting you used to syntax and such.

Those are useful links. I've bookmarked both sites.
Which is probably more useful to learn first, HTML or CSS?

I'd suggest learning HTML before CSS, because CSS is more advanced. You'll want to learn "xHTML" though because it looks as if it were to be outdated.

By the way, Cake, what languages do you know?

By the way, Cake, what languages do you know? I'm still learning about basic HTML, probably xHTML. I usually don't care about it though.

Cool. Do you learn from a class in school or on your own? I'll be taking 2 computer programming classes next year in high school so hopefully that will provide me with some insight.

Wow, I would imagine it's harder to learn that way. Good job!

You would think that, but it's really much easier to learn things when you do it your own way, at your own pace.

I guess so, but what if you have a question on something and don't have an instructor there?

In that case, google is your friend. But there's usually help files that come with the programs, and sometimes the programs come with an instructional book on the language itself.
