Boom! Boom! Boom!
“What was that?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” replied Kyle.
We ran into a closet. The noise was coming toward us.
“It’s all over for us.”
Yesterday;
“Hey Kyle? Do you want to go visit that house on the corner? They say it is haunted”
“ Okay, but let’s do it tonight.”
Around 7:00 pm we gathered our supplies - flashlights, and food in case we got hungry. We met in front of the house.
“Let’s go,” said Kyle, excitedly.
There was nothing unusual about the inside of the house except that it was really dusty and there were cobwebs everywhere. We looked around the house. There was nothing.
“Hey, what’s that?” Kyle said.
He was pointing at a bookcase. The bookcase looked like any other bookcase except that this one only had one book in it. We took the book off the bookshelf. Nothing happened.
“Let’s read it,” I said.
The book was about supernatural creatures. In the middle of the book was a sheet of paper.
It read, “If you are reading this you will be cursed until you find the secret of this house.”
“What does it mean by secret of the house?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” replied Kyle.
“Let’s look around.” I said.
We looked around, but we couldn’t find anything. I wanted to look at the book again. I went back to the bookcase where the book was. It was gone.
“Kyle, come over here,” I said.
“What?” He asked.
“Did you take the book?”
“No,” he replied.
“Then where is it?” I asked.
“I don’t know.”
We looked some more, but this time we heard something strange. The noise was coming from upstairs. We went upstairs. We saw something that looked like a bear combined with a shark, combined with a human. It glared at us. It had a human face, but the rest of it had fur. It also had a fin on it and hairy legs. We ran out of the house as fast as we could!
“What was that?” Kyle asked.
“How am I supposed to know?”
It took about a half an hour for us to calm down.
“Let’s explore the house again tomorrow.”
“ Are you kidding?” Kyle asked. “ I am not going back in there!”
“Then let’s look outside the house,” I said
“OK.“ he said.
We said goodbye. The next day I met Kyle outside. We went back to the house. We looked around the whole day. We found something around 7 o’ clock.
It was a piece of paper, which said, “ This is the house of Oscar Hole. One day when he went camping a bear came up to him. Then a comet hit them. He combined with the bear. The same thing happened with a shark, but before that he found a box that said there was a treasure in his house. After he became a bear-shark-human, he went looking for the treasure. Then he died because Adam H. Randall shot him. Since that day his ghost seeks revenge and he searches for the treasure.”
“ That was spooky,” I said.
“ Yeah, it was,” Kyle agreed.
Then all of a sudden Oscar the ghost was right behind us. We ran into the house. Boom! Boom! Boom!
“ What is that?” I asked.
“ I have no clue,” replied Kyle.
We ran into a closet. Oscar’s ghost was coming closer and closer.
“It’s all over for us!” I trembled.
After that something strange happened. Something or someone scared Oscar’s ghost away. Still, we stayed in the closet for what seemed like an eternity; just to be sure he was gone. We slowly opened the door – ccccrrrrrrreeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkk. Nothing was there. Since we were in the house we decided to look around. We were trying to find out what scared the ghost away and what that booming noise was. We found the supernatural creatures book. We decided to read it. Page 13 had been torn out and was missing. We wondered if what was on page 13 could be what scared Oscar’s ghost. We decided to look around the outside of the house tomorrow.
The next day, I met up with Kyle. We searched all around the outside of the house.
Finally, I heard Kyle shout, “I found something!”
I ran over to where he was standing. I looked down and saw a large, dark hole. We were so curious that we decided to climb into the hole. It was dark and musty. We had our flashlights to help us see. When we climbed out of the hole, we were in another room.
“Where are we?” I asked.
“I think it’s the basement,” replied Kyle.
We looked around.
Kyle said, “I found a map or something.”
I ran over to him. It was a map! It said basement at the top and there was other stuff written on it, but then we heard a noise. Kyle grabbed the map and we climbed back into the hole and crawled as fast as we could to the other side. We were relieved to be back at my house. Then we went up to my room.
“Let’s look at the map,” said Kyle.
On the map there were dots, and under the dots were words that indicated places in the basement. The words were lab, wine, games and something that was smeared so that we couldn’t read it.
“I think we should go back and explore those places, “ I said, wanting to know more.
“How will we find the one that we can’t read?” Kyle asked.
“I don’t know, that’s why we will have to explore,” I replied.
The next day we went back into the basement. We went to the games place first. When we got there, we were surprised. There were no games in the room, but there were gargoyles and other creepy things. We looked around the room. We tried to take off the gargoyles heads because in TV shows there are valuable clues hidden in things.
Kyle suddenly said, “I found something!”
I ran over to him and he was holding a piece of paper. I had no clue what it was, but Kyle thought that it had something to do with the treasure. We decided to keep it. Next, we went to the wine room. In the room there was beer, wine and animals! The animals looked like they were guarding something, so we decided to go to the lab instead. In the lab there were tomatoes and potatoes. We looked around until we found two pieces of paper. This time we could tell that it was a map, and there was writing on the back. We decided that the animals were probably guarding another piece of the map in the wine room, so we devised a plan to get it.
We went back to my house and got my remote control plane. My dad works with the police force and he gave it to me. On the remote, you could see things from the plane’s view. Our plan was for me to pilot the plane from my house and distract the animals while Kyle ran into the room, grabbed the paper and escaped. Believe it or not, the plan worked and we got the fourth piece of the map. We could tell that we still needed one more piece.
“I think that it’s in the place that was smeared on the original map,” I said.
We decided that we would look in the basement again. The next day, we went back into the hole again. We looked for the secret room in the basement. We searched everywhere, but we couldn’t find it.
Suddenly, I heard Kyle scream “Ouch!”
I came over and found that he had tripped over a sewer cover.
“Let’s see what’s down there,” I said.
We went into the sewer. It didn’t smell very good. When we got there, we found that we were in a maze. It took us a long time to get out of it. Just outside of the maze around the corner, we saw a glowing light. We paused and peeked around the corner, but we couldn’t see it anymore. We both thought that it was weird that we couldn’t see the light anymore. We searched the area where we saw the light for little bit, and then we found the fifth piece of the map. We put all of the pieces together and the map looked like this:
On the back of the map it said, “Find a glowing light and bring it in the maze. Go the way the light points and you will find the treasure.”
“The glowing light is the way to find the treasure,” said Kyle, awestruck.
The map of the maze looked a lot smaller than the maze that we were in.
“I wonder how and why the maze got bigger?” I said.
“Let’s look for the glowing light,” said Kyle.
“Where should we look?” I asked.
“Right here,” said Kyle.
He then asked if I remembered when we saw the light, but as soon as we looked it disappeared.
I said yes, and then Kyle said, “I have a plan to catch the light.”
His plan was kind of simple. He said that we could catch the light by trapping it in a light bulb. We looked in our supply kit and found two light bulbs, and when we looked again we saw the light. We activated the plan and it worked. After we caught the light, we went back into the maze and let the light out. We didn’t know if the light would disappear. It didn’t. It started to move. We followed it for about an hour. We finally saw the treasure chest! The light disappeared. We went over to see what was in the treasure chest. There were jewels and other stuff, but there were also weird gadgets. I looked at one that said, “Ghost Destroyer.” I started to look at the other gadgets, but suddenly Oscar’s ghost appeared right behind us.
“My treasure!” it said.
Without thinking, I grabbed one of the gadgets and hoped that it was the one that
was the ghost destroyer. I shot it at the ghost and he screamed, “Noooooooooooooo!” Before disappearing into a cloud of smoke. We looked at the other gadgets. The coolest one was a transporter. You put what you wanted to transport on it and then entered the latitude and longitude coordinates where you wanted to send it. We sent the treasure chest to my room, and then we went back to my house.
We showed the treasures to our families. Our families kept the jewels and we donated the gadgets to my long lost uncle who is a scientist in Argentina. He helped make more of the gadgets. Kyle and I are famous. No one uses cars anymore; they just transport themselves. Our world is less polluted.
