Those of you who are not entering college yet, what are some of the colleges that you are considering?
Me, right now, I'm thinking about MIT. I probably won't get in, but I'll try.

I want to go to Pitt University. I haven't really looked yet, but a true dream college is the University of Hawaii. How great would it be to live in Hawaii while in college? lol

probably CAL berkeley cuz my bro goes there rite now. Because of that, i have lots of Cal merchandise that i don't want to waste. But this is subject to change because im still in 8th grade and because what i want to study can (and probably will) change. For instance, right now i want to become a performing pianist. but later i might want to be a scientist or and engineer.

Yeah an 8th grader doesn't really have to worry about college for a while. Trust me, you'll be in college before you even know it. Time does fly.
I'm thinking about majoring in the field of technology. Maybe I'll become an engineer in the future. Also I'm thinking about becoming an architect.

MIT is very tough to get in, especially for an Asian like you. However, knowing you personally and what your nonacademic profile says about you, I'd say you have a 25% chance of getting in MIT if your SAT score is over 2000. Your GPA for this past year is below MIT's standards (94 right?) so you'll have to work harder in your sophomore year. I want to go to Pitt University. I haven't really looked yet, but a true dream college is the University of Hawaii. How great would it be to live in Hawaii while in college? lol I haven't either, and I'm going to be a senior! Yikes! The University of Hawaii sounds nice. My dad took classes there when he was growing up in Hawaii since his high school offered that as an option. probably CAL berkeley cuz my bro goes there rite now. Because of that, i have lots of Cal merchandise that i don't want to waste. But this is subject to change because im still in 8th grade and because what i want to study can (and probably will) change. For instance, right now i want to become a performing pianist. but later i might want to be a scientist or and engineer. Your brother must be smart! UC at Berkley is a very tough school to get in. And why isn't your brother using the California merchandise? Anyway, being a scientist and/or engineer sounds very interesting. Yeah an 8th grader doesn't really have to worry about college for a while. Trust me, you'll be in college before you even know it. Time does fly. I'm thinking about majoring in the field of technology. Maybe I'll become an engineer in the future. Also I'm thinking about becoming an architect. I'm also thinking of majoring in the field of technology --------------------------------------------- Now time for my list of dream schools. - Williams College
- Princeton University
- Caltech University
- Yale University
- Harvard University
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- Haverford University

He doesn't mind, really. It's up to me.
I've never really considered Brown University before. Their academics are extremely "loose" (if I recall correctly) and require us to make lots of our own decisions. I would rather have more of a core curriculum since I'm not sure what career I want to pursue yet.

Yeah probably because some of the teachers we know have kids who went there/are going there. So they are gaining influence on our parents lol.

RIT isn't necesssarily a bad school, but the reason I don't want to go there is that I would like to go to a more respected institution, which can possibly give me an edge in future job applications.

Those of you who are not entering college yet, what are some of the colleges that you are considering? I don't really consider any colleges a dream college. Since K told me his might as well share his. It would be a college were girls had to go in bikinis. All the staff would be women and they would have to go in bikinis too. Best of all every single girl would be very hot too. Of course this would be mine if not for the fact that I have a gf. She is the best so my dream college would be the college she goes to.

I agree, that is a dream college. Unfortunately, I don't think Harvard is like that.
