How do you guys know if you're half this or 1/8 that?? It's a little weird, I know. Basically, my dad's side is all Japanese, and my mother's side is 1/4 French, 3/4 Irish. So, 1 + (3/4) + (1/4) = 2 and just divide those 3 values by 2.

Ethnicity is your physical heritage. I'm a bit french, but don't speak a word of it(at least, none that can go on here ) I know absolutely no german, but am still considered to be of German descent.

Looks like we share some Irish descent. Jessica - it doesn't matter where you're born, what matters in your ethnicity is the ethnicity of your parents. It's a little weird, I know. For instance, a kid born in Great Britain to 1 Japanese parent and 1 British parent is 50% Jap and 50% Brit. The area of birth doesn't matter, nor does your knowledge of a certain language.
